Jennifer Yu Oliver is a PhD student in Todd Brusko’s lab. She has over a decade of experience working with recombinant parvoviruses, with six publications in the field. She earned her M.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Florida in 2019, where she published her research on the capsid structure of Gorilla bocavirus 1 (GBoV1).
Following her master’s degree, Jennifer worked in industry as a Senior Research Associate, gaining expertise in AAV capsid engineering, library development, and capsid screening towards the development of a gene therapy vector with immune escape capabilities.
In 2024, Jennifer started her PhD in the Biomedical Sciences back at the University of Florida (making her a triple Gator!). She applies spatial transcriptomics approaches to identify disease-associated biomarkers that can inform development of immunotherapies for type 1 diabetes.
Jennifer is a master hobbyist, always talking about starting a new hobby and leaving past hobbies in a dust trail behind her. Things that have stuck are indoor tropical plants, Pilates, and cooking new cuisines. This month’s new hobby is crocheting!
